San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance FAQ

Where does the money go?

Don’t worry—your dollar bills will go to good use. A portion of all proceeds goes to the San Diego Wildlife Alliance, a nonprofit international conservation leader. They run the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park, where millions of people visit each year (virtually and in person) to appreciate nature and see conservation efforts firsthand.

What does “conservation efforts” mean?

Basically, it means the San Diego Wildlife Alliance preserves plants, animals, and habitats to save wildlife. Cool, right? They work with wildlife care specialists, veterinarians, nutritionists and other team members at the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, as well as hundreds of wildlife scientists around the world. They look to reduce disease, preserve genetic resources, contribute to ecosystem health, and more.

Have these conservation efforts been successful?

Thanks to their research and technology, the San Diego Wildlife Alliance has been able to reintroduce more than 44 endangered species into their natural habitats. So your Owala purchase will help these efforts, saving animals like leopards in Kenya, polar bears in the Arctic, and forest birds in the Hawaiian islands.
