Lifelong surfers in O'ahu Hawai'i who help strangers catch their first waves. (oh, and it's totally free).
A little about them...
What is your least boring quality?
Least boring thing about first wave project is that we meet hundreds of people a day from all parts of the world. We go from strangers to great friends in a hour. Also sometimes we get completely rejected so that always keeps things interesting, very far from boring.
What is the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
Honestly probably starting first wave project. We sprung into action and starting asking strangers to go surf for free within a few days of the idea popping into our head. Besides that i'd say waking up hearing the waves are good in tahiti this week, and jumping on a flight that night to go get some perfect waves!
What are you most likely to be voted?
Not taking no for an answer. We know people's minds naturally go to the safest answer which is no thank you and turn down the opportunity. But we like to see where that comes from and if it's from just a place where all they need is a little support and encouragement, we become the biggest support crew/ hype team!
What is your proudest moment?
Our proudest moment for First Wave Project would be building a community online where Love, encouragement, and praise is a daily norm. Social media can be a dark place so to shine some light there and show that people are beautiful and kind has been so special to us.
What is your go-to Owala product?
I'd say the Sun-Day Tote is a must have for any beach goer/ surfer. we carry so many important things for the beach, towels, sunscreen, board shorts, snacks, FreeSip water bottle ! We need to be able to carry all this in one hand because the other hand is always carrying a surfboard!
