How to Set Up and Collapse Your Tote

Setup is simple.

1. Remove the storage strap—it’s wrapped around the tote.

2. Slide base out from exterior straps.

3. Place base inside bag with Owala logo facing down. Press firmly on all sides until it clicks into place.

4. To collapse, do all that—but you know, in reverse.

Now let’s break it down.

1. Remove base and set it aside.

2. Slide base behind the straps on the side of the tote.

3. Slip the storage strap onto the tote until it rests across the base.

4. Secure strap and store until next time.

Want to remove the handles or crossbody strap?

1. Locate the slit next to the buckle.

2. Feed the buckle through the slit.

3. Slide the strap free.

How to Clean

For any spills or mess, just rinse with water. If that's not cutting it, you can use mild soap and water on the straps and bag. Avoid any abrasives or harsh cleaners. Follow these instructions to keep your go-to tote adventure ready.

Hand Washing Guidelines

1. Dip soft cloth in warm, soapy water. Give cloth a good squeeze to remove excess water.

2. Gently clean all surfaces inside and out.

3. Dry tote with a clean cloth or rag.

Care Instructions

Do's

Allow the tote to completely dry before storing.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Don'ts

Put more than 40 pounds worth of stuff in it. Despite being big, the Sun-Day Tote still has limits.
Overload any one side. Weight needs to be evenly distributed to avoid tipping or damage.
Submerge the essentials pouch in water (but it is splash friendly).
Expose to extreme temperatures—it doesn’t like that.

It’s the ultimate grab-and-go tote that pops up when you need it, goes flat when you don’t, and handles water and sand like a champ. It also holds a shocking amount of stuff and looks good on your arm—whether you’re headed to pilates, the farmers market, or a summer trip in Waikiki. Basically, if you’re going somewhere, this bag is coming too.

Each Sun-Day Tote comes with a small pouch that has a built-in privacy divider so you can tuck away things you’d rather not broadcast to the beach (keys, wallet, whatever). It also keeps stuff from disappearing into the big bag abyss. While it’s not waterproof, it can handle the occasional splash.

34L is really roomy. That’s about 6 beach towels, 3-ish bags of groceries, 3 outfit changes (because why not), 2 yoga mats (plus blocks and straps), or an impressive stack of beach reads. We’re not saying you should pack all that—we’re just saying you could.

While this tote has some serious capacity, we recommend keeping it under 40 pounds. The straps can only do so much heavy lifting.

Absolutely! Both the straps and the body of the bag (made from EVA molded material) were built for splash zones. Which means it can handle beach hangs, pool days, and the inevitable cannonball.

One of our favorite features about this bag: it’s seriously easy to pop up or flatten down (without having to wrestle it). Just follow these quick steps in our disassembly section.

You bet. The carry handles and adjustable crossbody strap can be taken off if you need to clean them or pack them away. The vertical webbing is sewn in though, so that stays put.

The molded EVA material wipes clean easily. Most spills can be rinsed with water, and tougher messes can be cleaned with mild soap.
